Teeth – Stain Causes: Stained teeth can occur as we age. Other main causes for stained teeth are: (i) Smoking is not only bad for your health, but is also one of the most common causes for stains on your teeth. Tobacco intake whether in the form of smoking or otherwise causes brown stains that penetrates the grooves and pits of your tooth enamel. Stains caused by tobacco are very hart to remove by brushing alone. (ii) Other top reason is some types of foods, like tea, coffee, dark sodas, too much of wines. A food or drink that can stain a white cotton T-shirt can stain your teeth as well. Stains by such foods develop slowly and become more noticeable as you age. (iii) Excessive alcohol intake. (iv) High intake of fluorides, either in the form of food or drinking water. (v) In some cases, genetics are the reasons for stained teeth.
